Tag Photos Using GPS Tracking Devices

Many people like adding geographical information to their photos. This includes, precise coordinates including the latitude and longitude of the tagged location (saved as the EXIF data). Several camera manufacturers have started concentrating on providing GPS support. If your camera does not support it or have a bunch of old photos lying around which you would like to manually geotag, then you have come to the right place. GeoTagImages is a portable application which allows you to quickly and easily add GPS tags to multiple pictures using a connected GPS tracking device.

As of now,  GeoTagImages only supports WINTEC WBT202 and GARMIN GPX devices. We hope that developer will add support for additional devices soon. All you need to do is drag & drop an image folder to GeoTagImages shortcut to tag it. GeoTagImages reads all JPEG image properties of the specified folder and automatically downloads the current GPS data. To geotag your images, either drag the image folder over the Geo TagImages shortcut or select folder by clicking select folder icon in toolbar.

You will receive a prompt to specify a GPS data folder. Once a local GPS data folder has been specified, GPS data from WINTEC WBT202 or GARMIN GPX devices will be downloaded (provided the program is running and the GPS device is plugged in). If camera and GPS items are synchronized, the GPS coordinates  may easily be added to image(s) by clicking the second menu button from the left. YouTube Android App Updated

For Android users who wanted to gain better control over their uploaded videos on YouTube, here’s good news. The official YouTube app for Android has recently been updated (to v 2.2.14) and now not only allows users to set privacy controls over their uploaded videos but also lets them edit titles, descriptions and tags of previously uploaded videos. Apart from this, updated YouTube app also sports fresh video uploading user interface and lets you create, edit and delete video playlists from within the app. Moreover, there have been other minor bug fixes and performance improvements from the previous version


While previous version of YouTube allowed users to just delete videos from their video uploads list, the updated version lets them edit the title, description and tags to these videos and define new privacy settings. Said video editing and privacy features have been added to the video upload menu as well for user convenience. Another welcome addition is the “Add Playlist” button in the playlist menu which was badly missed in previous versions. With this option, users can easily add new playlists and tweak privacy option for each. The updated YouTube app also supports video playback even if your device is on standby. This means that you can now listen to your favorite music on the go rather than having to forcefully watch the video.

Keep Your iPhone Or iPad Awake For As Long As You Want

Don’t you just hate it when in the middle of watching a video or playing a gyro-based game on your device, the screen turns itself off and goes to sleep? When you are wide awake and having fun, your screen should cooperate, right? Life would have been much easier if you could have given your iOS device some caffeine to get rid of its sleepiness. Well, turns out you can!

Caffeine is a tweak available at the Cydia store for jailbroken users. It basically allows you to decide for how long you want your phone or tablet to remain unlocked. Head over to the Cydia store and search for Caffeine. After installing this free app, go to your device’s settings. Under the “Activator” tab set any key you want to be associated with the toggle of Caffeine.
Once the Toggle shortcut is set, you simply have to press it to display the notification that caffeine is on. Until you tap the activation key again, your phone won’t lock. It will dim out though.

Collect & Embed Videos From 6 Popular Sites Into One Player

There are multiple video sharing sites that let you upload and share just about any kind of video content but when you’re more interested in sharing videos already available online but on different sites, you end up sharing several links. Yokto is a web service that allows you to create a video playlist or channel by adding videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Daily Motion, Brightcove, UStream and slideshows from Slide Share. The service generates an embed code that allows you to share the video on your website, viewers can see a complete list of videos that you’ve added and view them all in a single player.

The service has both a paid and a free version, you have to register to use the free version. The free version allows you add videos from any of the six supported sites whereas the paid version allows you to add videos by directly uploading them from your computer. Creating a video mash up is spread out over five simple steps that start out with creating and naming the player i.e. the video mash up.

You can search and add videos directly  from the service. Once you’ve created a player, you can proceed to add media. Select which site you want to search and enter a keyword or phrase. All possible matches will be listed and you can view videos in the service. If you like a video, click the Add Video button and it will be added to your playlist. Click Organize Media when you’re done to view how many video you’ve added. To remove a video, simply drag & drop it to trash.

Click Manage Player to select a layout of how your videos will be listed along with the player. You can preview the layout below to see how your player will appear. You can set the the player to Autoplay by checking the box. This will auto play the player whenever anyone visits your page. Click Embed Code to get the embed code. Viewers will have to manually click on one of the video thumbnails to play the, as videos in the list do not play sequentially.
Copy and paste the code to wherever you want the video to appear on your site. You can create as many players as you want and edit an existing player. The site promises support for more sites in the near future.

HTTPS Everywhere is a Firefox extension that ensures you always view pages over a secure channel by forcing web pages to open in HTTPS. The extension is especially useful if you often neglect to check how information is being exchanged over a particular site and surf over the HTTP connection (the default for many sites). It happens often enough that while viewing a page over an HTTPS connection, you find a link to the same site that will be on HTTP. This extension ensures that all links a user clicks on will open over HTTPS. The extension incorporates a search feature in its options to check which sites are supported and which aren’t.

The extension when we last reviewed supported only a handful of sites, the popular ones, but now it supports 1000 sites and allows you to customize them same way as before. Like before, users can add support for sites that the extension doesn’t support by following the link in the extension’s options. The extension is particularly useful if you often surf the web using public WiFi connections (at a coffee shop or airport) and don’t know who else you’re sharing a connection with.

Executing Task Remotely With A Centralized Console

DAAT is a portable JavaScript application which is designed to provide access to remote devices through the means of command executions, and remote access resources such as Remote Desktop, Network Shared folders, and other remote access applications which can be managed using the centralized console. Using DAAT, you can manage different types of network devices including clients, servers, routers and the like. DAAT makes it easy to add network devices, shared folders, and application shortcuts to a centralized management console for quick access and remote management of tasks.

When you run DAAT for the first time, you will be prompted to enter a password for the console. This password is used for authentication purposes from time to time when you attempt to perform tasks using the console. From left sidebar, you can access network devices. You can add or remove devices from respective buttons located in left sidebar.

The Access Manager displays all specified devices and allows accessing network resources such as routers, computers, etc. The rest of the shortcuts on the console let you instantly open Remote Desktop (MSTSC), VNC, SSH, network shared folders and custom shortcuts.

The Shortcuts option allows you to add custom shortcuts of applications, directories, batch files, FTP and HTTP URLs. All added shortcuts are displayed above the main window . The added shortcuts can be both local and remote files located on the network. Custom transformations can be added to display html, text and XML log files using feature-rich Ext JS components and XSL transformation. Integrating custom Ext JS components with XSL transformations saves time as it can leverage existing XSLT files provided by the software vendor.

Finds Multiple Words & Their Inflections On A Page [Chrome]

The Ctrl+F or Find On Page function that is present in all browsers is moderately helpful in finding a certain word mentioned on a page but it isn’t entirely helpful if you’re searching for information on a topic since it matches the word(s) letter to letter. efTwo (F2) – Advanced Find on Page is a Chrome extension that makes the find on page function work as it should. The extension not only remembers search terms but also automatically highlights them, in addition to finding and highlighting the word you searched for, it also looks for grammatical variations of it (tenses, adjectives or adverbs) and allows you to search for multiple words at the same.

The extension is ideal for searching forums where information is present but highly unstructured and difficult to find. The extension lets you search for different words on a page at the same time without coupling them together as a phrase. It remembers keywords or phrases that you entered in either Google, Yahoo or Bing and highlights them when you click-through a search result. To search for multiple words, type in a word, hit enter and type in another one in the find box. All words will be highlighted in a different color.

To get the extension to remember search terms and to highlight them when you open a webpage from the search results, enable the options from the extension’s options. The extension adds an icon that looks like a keyboard button with the letters FF on it next to the URL bar. To use the extension, hit the F2 key or the F key twice while holding down the Shift key. The extension also remembers which search terms you looked for on a particular page and auto fills them when you revisit the page.

You can choose which shortcuts you want to keep active by editing them from the extension’s options.

Play Nintendo 64 Games On Android

Are you a Nintendo fan? Add Home Screen Widgets To Android Lock Screen

Custom lockscreens and home screen widgets have undoubtedly had their fair share of contribution in making Android one of the reigning smartphone operating systems. While graphically rich and interactive custom lockscreens on Android help users launch their favorite apps without unlocking the screen, widgets provide quick and easy access to selective features of various apps them from the home screen without lauching them separately. But how about an idea to incorporate home screen widgets into a lockscreen? Based on the mentioned concept, XDA-Developers member FireZenk has come up with a unique yet very useful app for Android called Generic Widget Lockscreen. Details after the break.

With Generic Widget Lockscreen, you can place your favorite home screen widgets on the custom lockscreen and access them easily even if your device is locked. This means that your widgets remain actively available on the lockscreen and you do not have to unlock your device to use them. Once installed, the app opens to its configuration menu that allows users to modify app settings accordingly. For instance, you can enable/disable Generic Widget Lockscreen service, select custom wallpaper for Generic Widget Lockscreen, enable volume key support for  multimedia-supported widgets, set the app to lock on calls and tweak other advanced settings from within this menu.

Remember, to unlock your screen, you must have Generic Widget Lockscreen unlock button placed on the app’s lockscreen. Therefore, beofre placing any other widget on this screen, you should place the app’s own unlock button.  Said button, like all other widgets, can be placed on the lockscreen by following the steps mentioned below:

• Long tap on a vacant area on Generic Widget Lockscreen
• Select Widgets > GWL unlock button (or any other widget that you wish to add)

The app allows you to easily remove all the widgets from its lockscreen. To avail this feature, tap Menu while staying on app’s lockscreen and select Remove all widgets. Generic Widget Lockscreen also lets you place a secret code to unlock your screen. While you may continue to use your widgets from the app’s lockscreen, your screen won’t unlock unless you feed in the correct code.
Since the app is currently in beta therefore, you can expect it to return a few glitches and bugs. At least, this is what we experienced during our brief test run of the app. While Generic Lockscreen Widget worked quite smoothly on our HTC Desire Z (running CyanogenMod 7), it did not seem to work with the MIUI custom ROM. Still, the effort has to be applauded for its effectiveness on supported ROMs and devices. No doubt, there is room for improvement in the current effort but the concept overall is quite unique and applicable in the long run. Tab for Google+ Brings Google Plus To Mac

If you find it tiring to open Google+ web UI every time just to check updates, latest comments, circle additions, hangouts, etc, Tab For Google+ brings all the Google Plus Web UI elements to Mac desktop while taking relatively small space on screen. Similar to previously featured Facebox and Mail Tab, Tab for Google+ resides in Mac menu bar. The application imitates the interface design of Google+ mobile version in order keep the application compact and super responsive. The main screen shows all the important links for your Google+ account, such as, Stream, Circles, Photos, Notifications, etc.

When you launch the application, it will sit in menu bar. You need to enter Google+ account login details to begin. When done, it will show the most recent posts from people in your circle. The Stream window lets you navigate to check-ins, editor to update your status, and Google+ Home screen.

The Home screen contains links to stream, notifications, user’s profile window, circles, etc. You can also use navigation controls present at the bottom of menulet to jump between different Google+ windows.

The Setting button present next to refresh lets you access Tab for Google+ Preferences. Here, you can disable start at login and enable/disable hotkey combination for launching Tab for Google+ window from menu bar.

CyanogenMod 7 Themes [Android]

If you’re an educated Android user or, like many of us here at AddictiveTips, a power-user with ORD (Obsessive ROM-updating Disorder), then you’re probably aware of the CyanogenMod series of custom ROMs for select Android devices. The ROM is, after all, among the most feature-rich, fast and flexible ones out there. It may not have been even close to as cosmetically flexible as, say, MIUI up until the sixth version in the series (CM6), but that changed with the addition of the T-Mobile Theme Chooser application in CyanogenMod 7. Now, instead of flashing ZIP files through recovery, you can simply install themes that come in APK format and apply them from within Theme Chooser. For CM7 fans who love everything about the ROM but its stock Android look, following are 12 of the best CyanogenMod 7 themes out there (as of this writing). All of the following themes are free and can be applied from within Theme Chooser (no flashing required).

Installing a CyanogenMod 7 Theme Using Theme Chooser

The following themes are in APK format. To install and apply a theme:

• Download / transfer its APK to the SD card and install. You will, of course, need to enable installation of non-Market applications (check the Unknown Sources option within Settings > Applications).
• Launch Theme Chooser.
• Swipe left or right across the screen to select the theme you just installed.
• Tap apply and reboot (reboot is required to be able to view the changes to the notification power widget).

If you would rather not reboot after applying a theme:

• Download Notification Restart from the Android Market. The app is free.
• After applying a theme, launch the app and tap the button on its home screen to restart the notification bar.
